Onshore and Offshore Operational Risk Engineering Reviews

Elantis’ risk engineers undertake insurance focused risk engineering surveys of operational onshore and offshore oil, gas, refining, petrochemical, hydrocarbon storage and distribution facilities.  Our clients include operating companies, cedents, insurance brokers, insurance underwriters and insurance captives.  Our risk engineering surveys are tailored to meet our client’s specific requirements and include; property damage, machinery breakdown, business interruption, liability and operators extra expense assessments.  The scope of our risk engineering surveys can cover the following, with the delivery of reports in a format accepted by international insurance markets;

  • Detailed evaluation of the inherent hazards of the operating facilities and the adequacy of the loss control mitigations implemented against industry best practice and standards. Loss control mitigations reviewed include the engineering design features, the management systems implemented (e.g. management of change, permit to work, inspection, maintenance, health and safety etc.) and the emergency response capabilities (e.g. fire/gas detection, fixed fire protection, manual fire fighting capabilities etc.).

  • Quantification of normal and catastrophic property damage estimated maximum losses (EML), business interruption and Operators Extra Expenses (OEE) estimated maximum loss.

  • Provide our clients with further opportunities for risk mitigation through proposed risk improvement recommendations.

  • Risk Rating Assessment and benchmarking of risks against similar types of global risks using Elantis’ bespoke risk rating tool.

  • Delivery of desk top Property Damage Estimated Maximum Loss (EML) studies

  • Delivery of loss control risk engineering training.

Over the last twelve years our engineers have completed operational phase insurance risk engineering surveys of the following generic onshore/offshore oil and gas production/processing, refining and petrochemical assets;

  • Upstream offshore oil and gas exploration, processing and export.

  • Upstream onshore oil and gas exploration, processing and export.
